Fun story when I bought my first Icon in September 2019, I noticed that most Icon tail numbers ended in BA. I couldn't figure out the connection to Icon (for example the default tail number on Cirrus is SRxx after SR22 model), so I asked the sales guy why and he said it stood for Bad Ass. Nice!

Luckily my friend Shawn at https://short-n-numbers.com had N1BA available, so I grabbed that and customized the Founders Edition plaque to match!

One of my local beaches on the James River at Jamestown Island, VA. 425 years ago, in the background Captain John Smith anchored his fleet of three ships to found the first permanent English speaking colony in the New World. The story, the beach, and the ICON never get old!Name: IMG_0952.jpg

Amazing photo! Is your ICON based in Puerto Rico, or did you fly it there? And are you anchored, moored or beached in this photo? If anchored, what anchor do you use to secure your A5?

Its actually my friend's Icon and based in Puerto Rico.
    In the photo, its anchored.
I used this anchor, which is about 4lbs.

I keep a Fortress 2.5 pounder, which nicely comes in a protective nylon bag. I have found these (in boats up to 40') to be the lightest anchors available for their holding power - the 5' of chain at the front weight much more than the anchor (and you should always have at least a couple feet of chain to start). https://www.amazon.com/WORLDS-BEST-A...5547566&sr=8-1

In addition to Marcus's info about the "BA" in the tail numbers referring to "bad ass" - for those of you who have never seen it try taking your A5 up through 5280' while staring at the LCD thousands window & kollsman window (assuming you have an ICS altimeter AND that you can still see those two windows!) You'll notice that when passing through 5280' the two windows show "BAD" and "ASS".

    Hi Erich,

The northbound crossings are mandated at 10,500 (the above pic, taken at sunrise), and southbound at 11,500 (the rim is about 7,000'). When I came back south that afternoon the weather was hot - you need to watch density altitude very closely if you're going to cross GC in the warmer months. Even taking off from Flagstaff (7,014') to come up to GC was a slow grind (and is rising terrain).

But an incredible adventure. Landing at Marble Canyon was something else!
