Has anyone been told they need a new DAC?
Hello All,
I am being told I will need a replacement DAC for my 2018 Icon. It seems CA is unable to flash my current one. Has anyone on this forum been told to replace their DAC?
Would love some context if anyone has lived through this.
Thanks. -

This can happen but is very rare. With the lack of experience remaining at ICON it could simply be a lack of experience. What were they Flashing the DAC for? New software? Who was doing it? Did they send you a memory unit with the firmware already on it or did they have you remove it to send it back for them to do in VCB? I used load the firmware for the service folks and production all the freakin time...
I always felt the service team was quick to throw parts at problem rather than work the issue. The only time they would really work issues is when they were out of parts. -

It seems my DAC was on a slow decline and could not be resuscitated. I was told my New DAC was the last one in the network...

I'm having a hard time believing this. If you replace DAC in your sentence with ICON, then its believable. The shit part is without this device you cannot even start the aircraft.

Every now and then when I power the plane on, the analog gauges won't come on (ie fuel reads 0). Not until I do the lane tests during the run-up do they wake up. DAC going bad or maybe just low batter voltage?

DAC has nothing to do with the fuel gauges (notice I said Gauge(s)) Low level is is independant sensor and light. Oil pressure, Oil temp, Coolant Temp signals from the ECU CAN buses Lane A (coolant Temp) Lane B (Oil Pressure and Oil Temp) data yes. Side note this is why the Oil temp and Oil pressure go down when you are are on Lane A and why coolant temp goes down when you are on Lane B. Powering the gauges, lighting the gauges that's a separate electrical circuit.
