    Rotax ASB-912 i-016 R1 - Inspection and/or replacement of oil spray nozzle

FYI Rotax last month issued ASB-912 i-016 R1, which involves the inspection and/or replacement of oil spray nozzle. "Due to a deviation in the manufacturing process, excessive application of LOCTITE at the sprag clutch housing and/or oil spray nozzle may lead to blockage of the nozzle. This could lead to inadequate cooling and possible damage to both of the generators"

The affected engine serial range is roughly 7706136 - 7706935, excluding engines with a minimum 200 hours of operation as cooling of the stator is sufficient.

My ICON #140 has engine 7775609, so it appears only later ICON A5 serials will be affected. I have not seen an ICON specific SL/SB on this yet.

The infection is due at next scheduled maintenance event but latest within the coming 25 hours.

I am scheduled to take mine to Lochwood next week as the guinea pig to see what this really entails.
