SD: ELT GPS Connector Wiring (SD-111324-A)

SD: ELT GPS Connector Wiring (SD-111324-A)

ICON has identified that the ELT GPS Connector, D9157P, may have been pinned incorrectly. This can drain the ELT battery, which may prevent the ELT from functioning. This may be recognized by a failed self-test, a red light flashing on the remote panel, and/or audible squelching from the overhead speaker.

While a solution for the wire harness is determined, the immediate risk can be mitigated by disconnecting the faulty connector. The GPS connector is designed to enhance the accuracy of the ELT signal; disconnecting it will not prevent the ELT from functioning. Once it has been disconnected, performing an ELT self-test prior to each flight will determine whether the ELT battery is still sufficiently charged.
