I gather others have had trouble with the original Icon altimeter OLED displays. I've lost 2 so far and had an interesting discussion with Kevin at ICS and he tells me the OLED is basically doomed as the potential race condition between the internal 12V and 3V supplies are not properly controlled and if the 12V comes up first it blows the display. The issue is relatively easily resolved with a minor design change - but has or will that change be made? I'm hoping Icon can come up with a new altimeter for me as I'm not thrilled with flying using the GPS or my old Garmin D2 Pilot (which has a barometric altimeter) altimeter for flights over 1000 feet.
