Calling All Icon Pilots in the North East
This message is for all Icon Pilots in the North East, and any other pilots willing to travel to the North East. I am planning an "Icon Swarm" for sometime this summer. An "Icon Swarm" is a one day event, we meet at a destination, fly in and out together, eat lunch and call it a day. I do not yet have a date or destination, but looking for hands to see who is interested. We can plan it once we have an indication of participants. If interested, please respond to this thread and if you have ideas/suggestions for when and where, please add that as well. Let's go flying!

Hi Brett,
I'm based out of Tipton (FME) near Washington, D.C. I'm interested in attending so definitely send an update when you have a date and location in mind. -

Gentlemen, mark your calendars.
I have heard from a few of you, and the consensus seems to be our first "IOPA North East Swarm" will be….. in Long Lake in the Adirondacks, NY9. The date will be Saturday, July 15th, with the 16th being reserved if wx is crummy on the 15th. We can meet at my airport Glens Falls, KGFL earlier that morning, fuel up, then fly up to NY9 as a group. (No fuel there, closest fuel from NY9 is Lake Placid, KLKP. Glens Falls is 52 nm South East of NY9.
Please email me back if you are planning on attending, I will need to tell the restaurant our numbers. Also, if you are bringing a co-pilot, let me know for numbers.

UPDATE on the NorthEast Swarm.
Date: July 15. (July 16 wx date.)
Destination: NY9, and lunch at the Adirondack Hotel
So far, I have commitments from:
1) Brett West, N258BA
2) Chris Patten, N557BA
3) Yossi Friedman, N574BA
4) Tony Cacciarelli, N102BA
5) David Mullane, N58BA
6) Mike Randolph, N524BA
7) Tim Hahn, N293TH
8) Mark Woodruff, N347BA
We also have a "maybes" from: Greg Bongiorno, Chris Carpenter, and Doug Clark,
We have reservations for lunch at The Adirondack Hotel at 1pm. I flew up to NY9 a few days ago to do some recon. I took photos of the lake we are landing on, the beach we are parking on, and the hotel we are dining at. All good, it will be tight, but we can all fit. Worse case we fold some wings. I have asked Mark Woodruff, (an Icon Flight Instructor), to make a safety and tips & tricks presentation to us during lunch. See attached photos.
We will be meeting at 9 am for a 10am departure at KGFL. Plan on fueling up at GFL. Tony Cacciarelli will be in charge of briefing us all on what we are planning to be a very loose formation (1/2+ mile loose.) When we get closer, I will send a map on where to meet at GFL. We hope to splash into a 2 or 3 lakes on our way to Long Lake (NY9.)
If others want to join, it is not too late. Please email me asap: [email protected] -

Gentlemen!!
The 10-day weather forecast is showing crummy weather for the big swarm on the 15th, and our weather backup of the 16th.
BUT, I am not giving up yet. I will make the go/no go decision this Thursday if it’s obviously bad, or Friday if it’s looking good.
Just in case the long term forecast is accurate, I would like to ask for everyone’s availability on Wednesday the 19th, or Sat the 22nd?
Please let me know.
We have confirmed:
1) Brett West
2) Chris Patten
3) Yossi Friedman & Co-Pilot
4) Tony Cacciarelli & Co-Pilot
5) David Mullane
6) Mike Randolph (Will meet us at Long Lake)
7) Tim Hahn & Co-Pilot
8) Mark Woodruff (Icon Instructor, bringing a student)
9) Roger Metz (Friend of Yoshi’s and will be joining us in his Husky.)
In the “maybe” column:
1) Chris Carpenter (From DC)
2) Doug Clark
3) Greg Bongiorno -

Hey Brett-
I'l stay hopeful that the weather gods will pull out a miracle for us this weekend.
If not, Wed July 19th works best for me, but I could make Sat the 22nd work if that's better for everyone else.
Thanks.
