Lost my Trig Transponder display today
Hello,
10 minutes into my flight today the display window on the Trig transponder went blank. I thought I had lost my transponder but Flightaware got all of it... Maybe just the remote control head died... James is coming this week-end to do my Annual/100hr/Rubber replacement so I should be able to find out what happened.
More to come. -

I never seen that before. The trig units are great. The control head tells the main transponder to turn on and also does the altitude encoding. It might just be the LCD display maybe it just a loose connector but I don't know how flight aware got you the entire time without the transponder control head working unless its just the LCD...

Once interesting thing is JUST before my display failed, my 796 fell on my lap... Seemed it was not firmly latched/locked. I wonder if it cause a voltage spike...

Likely a complete and utter coincidence. A larger voltage spike would be from putting the landing gear up or down, heater fan on or off, or lights on or off. Aside from all that the Trig units are protected from such spikes.

Just an update. James Andrews, my totally favorite A&P was in TN this month to complete my Annual, 100hr, 5yr Rubber replacement, 11 Service Bulletins, Etc... He is a GREAT MECHANIC!!!... Anyhow, he was messing with my Trig 22 Transponder Head-Unit and found the plug was a bit loose so HOPEFULLY that is all it was... Time will tell. I am now flying again and looking forward to visiting Canada for the summer.
